CEO or Managing Director: building an SME contractor's information management capability

ReadyDRAFT – working copy; not for client issue.

The scenario

The CEO or managing director of an SME main contractor leads a firm that won the PW-CF1 works tender for a €14 million extension and refurbishment of a post-primary school for an Education and Training Board. As lead appointed party, the firm must meet the client's BIM and requirements during construction, under the CWMF requirements that apply to contractors on projects over €10 million. The firm's processes depend on manual reporting, its staff have mixed digital skills, and any spend on technology and training must be justified. The CEO needs proportionate, justified capability: assess the firm against the client's requirements, assign responsibility for information management, and replace manual reporting with agreed digital processes by 1 July 2027.

What success looks like

You can lead your firm to meet the ETB's requirements during construction of the €14 million school extension, with proportionate practices that replace manual reporting and a technology and training investment you have justified on cost and benefit.
