Information Manager (BIM)

Establishing, implementing and overseeing information management processes within a public client organisation and across its capital projects

Information Manager (BIM): establishing information management for a public client

Review copyDRAFT – working copy; not for client issue.

The scenario

The Information Manager (BIM) works for an Education and Training Board, a public client acting as the in Ireland under the CWMF. The ETB is delivering several projects under the BIM Mandate, but its departments have varying BIM experience, inconsistent information requirements and no standard approach. Information handed over from consultant-managed common data environments is not consistently structured for future use. Their task is to build a consistent, proportionate approach to that works across projects and departments, starting with a €14 million post-primary school extension and refurbishment. By mid 2027, requirements, standards and assurance should be in place, Project Coordinators should apply them unaided, and the ETB should retain usable information after completion.

What success looks like

You can give your ETB a consistent, proportionate approach to that works across every project and department, starting with the €14 million post-primary school, so that information delivered by the design team and contractor is retained and usable long after completion.
